The Rev. Janet Dorman, Interim Pastor, is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. She recently moved to the Bay Area from Massachusetts where she served for over ten years as the Pastor of the East Congregational Church, UCC in Milton, MA. Prior to that she served on the pastoral team of First Congregational Church in Winchester, MA, and also on the staff of Interfaith AIDS Ministry.
In addition to her parish work, Janet worked at the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ as chair of the Leadership Development Commission and as a member of the Strategic Planning Team, helping to write the Conference’s Vision for Renewal and Growth. She was trained as a clergy group facilitator through the Alban Institute and was working with two such groups before moving to California. Janet is a member of the Interfaith Coalition for the Freedom to Marry and did state house advocacy in support of same gender marriage.
Janet lives in San Francisco with her husband Tom. Together, they have two adult children, Dan and Christine. Her interests include many kinds of outdoor activities, cooking, reading, crosswords, and Celtic spirituality and practice.
Rev. Barry Cammer (UCC) attended Pacific School of Religion, graduating in 1987 with a Master of Divinity degree, as well as an M.A. in Pastoral Counseling. He was ordained into the United Church of Christ and has served congregations in Richland, Washington and Orinda, California. Among his activities in the UCC, Barry has traveled extensively in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, as well as the former Soviet Union. These travels have been in support of the peace movement, as well as UCC-supported community development.
Barry is also a past moderator of the Northern California Nevada Conference of the United Church of Christ, and is currently the vice-moderator of the Bay Association of the Conference.
Rev. Cammer is a Pastor in Covenant with New Spirit Community Church. As such, he is both a member of the congregation, and assists the church in areas of worship, pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, and other areas. He is a founding member of New Spirit.
Barry is currently the Director of Asset Management for Barcelon Associates Management Corporation in Walnut Creek, California. He also serves as their Director of Social Services. In these capacities, he is responsible for the provision of safe, healthy, affordable housing for several thousand low-income elderly and disabled persons, and low-income families in the wider Bay Area.
